Tony Robbins’ $1,000,000 Trading Advice

This is a guest post by AK from the Youtube channel Fallible

Tony Robbins, the famous motivational speaker, also gives trading advice?

He’s the performance coach billionaire investors go to in order to take their trading to the next level.

We talk about psychology a lot on this channel, and in the video above, Tony explains just how important it is through an example of one of his clients.

This client is one of the greatest investors of all time, and to give you a hint of who it is, in the 1987 crash he made half a billion dollars in a single day.

It’s Paul Tudor Jones!

Yup, in the video above Tony talks about exactly what he does for PTJ, and as you’ll learn… it’s mostly psychological work. It’s just like Wendy in Billions. The role she plays is REAL. The actress playing Wendy actually studied Tony Robbins in depth and even worked with him directly to create the role.

And just like we saw Axe pay Wendy a ton of money in Billions, PTJ pays Tony Robbins a million a year plus upside in the fund.

If these guys are paying that much for it… then you know it’s important. But you don’t need to pay millions of dollars for a coach like Tony or Wendy. There’s a simple method you can use to become your own coach. And that method is a trading journal.

Keeping a trading journal is a key part of separating your rational self from your emotional self.

First you start with creating a trade plan, something your rational self does.

Then you go on to execute that plan while recording that execution in your trading journal. And whether you like it or not, this is done by your emotional self.

And finally you review your trade journal afterwards, which is once again done by your rational self.

You see how they’re separated?

I've been trading for a living since 2006. By merging mindfulness (an in-depth study of the mind and its tendencies in the present moment), a good trading process, and an efficient business practice, I went from being a losing trader to a consistently profitable one. Thank you for the article. For me, journaling has been most crucial in my breakthrough.

    • You’re welcome Ling. I like AK’s youtube channel. I learned a lot in this video. Never knew Paul Tudor Jones paid Tony Robbins millions of dollars just to help him with his mindset. This goes to show you…

Journaling has also been crucial in my development, not even mentioning mindfulness meditation 😉

hey Yvan…..ive been taking a vacation and spending a lot of time on my meditation and spiritual side …….who are your mentors in this area ? ….i like Deepak Chopra , Wayne Dyer and more recently i’m reading the work of Dr Joe Dispenzer …his work in self healing is unbelievable …and very applicable to trading as well

    • Hey Neil, welcome back! I’ve been on many intensive silent meditation retreats, ranging from 4 days to 2 months, and I’ve personally studied with Henepola gunaratana, Thich Nhat Hanh, the late Sayadaw U Pandita, just to name a few.

On retreats, my inquisitive nature made it that I was probably the annoying guy who asked too many questions. 🙂

There are also many others whom I’ve never met or interacted with but whose retreats, seminars, or books have equally impacted me — S. N. Goenka, Ram Dass, Jon Kabat-Zinn, Pema Chodron, Mathieu Ricard, Daniel Goleman, and many others.

Haven’t heard of Dr. Dispenzer. I’ll check him out. Thank you.

        hi Yvan

wow…you certainly have walked the spiritual path here ….i would love to discuss more with you how you balance making money trading with your spiritual beliefs and feelings….I personally still struggle with this conflict and the perception that such wealth jobs and pursuits are bad, greedy , unworthy and selfish …….

        • Hey Heil,

When I saw and experienced the benefits of meditation, it completely blew me away. So I went down the rabbit hole 🙂

Sure let’s discuss. Send me an email at
